Alumni - About Us
The alumni Association of UCC has a five member National Executive Committee made up of Prof. D.D.Kuupole, National President; Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Vice President; Mr. David Dzontoh and Mr. Edoh Torgah, Secretary and Assistant respectively, and Mrs. Christine Offei Ansah, Treasurer. The office also has three supporting staff namely, Emmanuel Abeku Essel, the Relation Officer, Monica Yanney and Florence Quainoo.
The alumni association with contributions from members is putting up an Alumni complex adjacent Sasakawa Center. The one storey complex has conference facilities, rooms for students and visitors alike, a business center, as well as other recreational facilities. To brace the challenge of funding such a multi-million project in the face of dwindling resources, members of the association resolved to contribute 1% of their monthly salary to the Alumni Fund for the next five years. It is also worth mentioning that the association in its small way is generating funds internally by the sale of UCC souvenirs namely, car stickers, Alumni T-shirts, UCC pens, magazines, pins and caps.
These, coupled with regional activities aimed at whipping up enthusiasm and commitment of members at the regional level, led to a recent meeting of regional delegates with the Vice Chancellor at the council chamber. Here, all the delegates present presented their programme of activities of activities for the year. Some of these included health walks, outreach programmes for membership drive, and guidance and counseling for second cycle schools in their respective regions.
These way Alumni activities will be decentralized and the regions would also get affair chance to be actively involved in our activities. We wish to acknowledge the unflinching support we have received from the Vice Chancellor, Rev.E.A.Obeng, the Pro.Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kobina Yankson and the Registrar, Mr.K.Ohene who is an honorary alumnus. We also like to express our appreciation to Prof. V Gadzekpo, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Alumni Complex, as well as all of you wonderful people who have supported the nurturing of this association to date. In your small way, you can also contribute by patronizing the Alumni associations’ souvenirs, attending our meetings and programmes and above all supporting your Alma Mater financially.
